A-House 1000

A-House 1000 totals 1,076 sq ft with 1,000 sq ft of living area on a square 30 ft × 30 ft footprint. It is the only A-Frame model drawn with two bedrooms, alongside one bathroom and an optional 290 sq ft terrace. Ceiling heights run about 8 ft 2 in on the first floor and 8 ft 6 in in the loft.

Fit

Who the A-House 1000 may suit

This is the only A-Frame drawn with two bedrooms: 1,076 sq ft total, 1,000 sq ft of living area, on a square 30 ft × 30 ft footprint with the family's tallest loft at 8 ft 6 in. The square plan is what makes a second bedroom workable, so it suits longer stays or two parties sharing the structure. One bathroom serves both bedrooms, which is worth settling early if the plan is meant for extended use.

This is a reading of the drawn plan, not a recommendation for your parcel. Use and occupancy are decided by your jurisdiction.

Site fit

Planning the A-House 1000 on a Colorado parcel

Written from the drawings and from the parcel questions that decide feasibility. Nothing here promises approval, occupancy, or a cost.

  • Intended use, read from the plan

Two bedrooms and 1,000 sq ft of living area make this the A-Frame drawn for longer stays or for two parties sharing the structure. One bathroom serves both bedrooms, so how many people use the plan at once is worth settling before design proceeds.

  • Site-fit questions to answer first

Does a square 30 ft × 30 ft footprint fit inside your setbacks, and is the optional 290 sq ft terrace part of the scope? Which direction does the glazed gable face, and does the pad allow the square plan without extensive cut and fill?

  • Access and staging

This is the largest A-Frame footprint, so delivery routing and working room around the structure are checked early. Road grade, switchbacks, and seasonal closures can be the deciding factor on a mountain parcel regardless of how the plan reads.

  • Foundation and utilities

A square footprint on sloped ground usually means more foundation work than a narrower plan. Soils, drainage, and frost depth drive the type, and a two-bedroom plan raises the wastewater sizing question early where an OWTS is involved.

  • Snow, wind, and engineering

At higher elevations the ground snow load and wind exposure that apply to this roof are substantially different from a Front Range foothill site. Those values come from the jurisdiction and the engineer for your address, and the structural design is coordinated around them.

  • 1000 or 800?

The 1000 adds the second bedroom, the square plan, and the tallest loft in the family; the 800 keeps a 24 ft × 30 ft footprint and one bedroom. If the parcel's usable building area is tight, the 800 is often the realistic version of the same idea.

How the scope is divided is set out in working with a Colorado cabin builder, and the review sequence in how it works.

Layout and use

How the plan works

  • The square footprint gives the plan depth as well as width, which is what makes a second bedroom workable.
  • The loft is the tallest in the family at 8 ft 6 in.
  • One bathroom serves both bedrooms — worth discussing early if the model is intended for extended stays.
  • Nothing on this page promises zoning approval, occupancy status, or legal use. That depends on your parcel and jurisdiction.

Drawings and renderings

What the available drawings show — and do not establish

This page carries one architectural rendering of the A-House 1000. Renderings show form, proportion, and the intended relationship between the plan and its openings. They are not photographs of a completed project, and they do not describe materials, finishes, or equipment.

One plan drawing is published above. A plan establishes the arrangement of spaces and the dimensions recorded in the specifications table. It does not establish structural design, snow or wind loads, energy compliance, or foundation type for any particular site.

No drawing on this page has been reviewed for your parcel, and no drawing is by itself engineering or a permit. A-Hut can manage the permitting work for your project — coordinating the licensed local professionals, preparing the permit package, and handling the submittal and plan-review responses when that scope is in the written agreement — while the permit itself is issued by the authority having jurisdiction.

Property planning

Planning the A-House 1000 for a Colorado property

These are the questions we work through before scope, schedule, or cost. None of them has a default answer, and none of them is settled by the model you choose.

  • Intended and legal use

How will the structure be used through the year, and does the jurisdiction allow that use on this parcel?

  • Access and staging

Can the road, grade, turns, and seasonal conditions carry delivery, and is there room to stage work near the building area?

  • Foundation and soils

What do the soils, drainage, frost depth, and grade require, and has anyone assessed them for this location?

  • Utilities

Is power, water, and wastewater on the parcel, and if not, what is the distance and route to each?

  • Jurisdiction and permits

Which county or municipality reviews the project, and what do its zoning, setback, coverage, and permit steps require?

  • Site-specific climate loads

What ground snow load, wind exposure, and elevation apply at this location, and who will confirm them?

We do not publish an inclusions list for this model yet. Rather than invent one, we define scope in writing after the property review.

Questions

A-House 1000 FAQ

Is there a second bathroom option?
The drawing shows one bathroom. Adding a second is a design change we would price and detail as scope.
Which figure should I plan around, 1,076 or 1,000 sq ft?
Use 1,000 sq ft for usable living area and 1,076 sq ft for the total enclosed floor plate.
How large a building area does the 30 ft × 30 ft footprint need?
The structure itself is square at 30 ft on each side, and the optional 290 sq ft terrace is additional. Usable building area also depends on setbacks, grade, and access on your parcel.
Is the loft one of the two bedrooms?
The drawing lists two bedrooms and a loft measured at 8 ft 6 in. Which spaces those labels refer to is something we confirm against the drawing rather than infer here.
